Sydney Hotels Price War
Sydney hotels are sick of slashing room rates and now they are calling for an $85 million special events campaign to compete with rivals hotels in Melbourne.
The Hilton Hotels group's vice-president of Australasian operations, Ashley Spencer, said Sydney was an iconic city that should be competing for more international events. "Every day that goes by is a day we miss an opportunity," Mr Spencer said. "We should be hosting much more international conventions and sporting events that Melbourne is taking."
